Woodland blue phlox in bloom, Noble County, OH, April 2017
Phlox always has five petals (the alien Dame's Rocket which is often mistaken for phlox has only four). Woodland blue phlox is a low plant, about a foot tall with a spreading habit. Note the notches in the tips of the petals.
