Squirrel corn in bud, Wexford County, MI, May 2013 Grows in rich woods in soft mounds under ideal conditions. Flower is white and very similar to domestic bleeding heart when open. Buds here are still narrow and greenish. Leaves are nearly indistinguishable from Dutchman's breeches.
