Ebony spleenwort sori, Lauderdale County, Alabama, May 2018. Upright fertile fronds have sori arranged in a chevron along the midrib. Also note the small upward pointing "boot" that overlaps the rachis on each pinna. Pinnae are alternate on the dark rachis.
