Family Adoxaceae
European Cranberrybush

European Cranberrybush, Mason County, MI, February 8, 2010
this shrub is visually indistinguishable from the American Highbush Cranberry (Viburnum trilobum), and may be proven to be varieties of the same species, but some people who use the berries for eating say that the European ones do not taste good. Berries persist all winter. If shrub appears to be planted as an ornamental it's almost certainly V.opulus
