Belly of baby Northern water snake, Mason County, MI, April, 2015
Northern water snakes are non-poisonous. Baby ones are more highly patterned than adults which may look almost plain black, or have faint patterns. Note the definitive half moon spots on each side of the belly center line. These may be reddish, brown or black.
