American dagger moth caterpillar, Mason County, MI, October 4, 2011
This caterpillar may be white to creamy to yellow, but the "pencils" of black hairs are distinctive. There are two each on the first and third abdominal segments, and one more on the eighth abdominal segment. Overall length is about 2 inches. The head is shiny black and is to the left in this shot.
