Gerris remigis,
water strider

Order Hemiptera
water strider

common water strider, Mason County, MI, April 10, 2011
The water strider hibernates as an adult, so is often seen very early in the spring. They eat other insects that fall into the water. Small hairs on their feet make it possible for them to walk on the surface of the water.
